Elton Julian Takes Third Place In Sebring Qualifying For Greaves Motorsport

Elton Julian, driving the Greaves Motorsport Zytek Z11SN Nissan LM P2 prototype, recorded a time of 1:51.809 to achieve third qualifying position for the 12 Hours of Sebring. The race is the opening round of the inaugural FIA World Endurance Championship as well as being the 60th anniversary running of the Florida classic.

Right from the start of the session Elton was on the pace, pushing hard, which proved to be a smart decision as proceedings were truncated after another competitor had an incident that eventually brought out the red flag ending the session.

Elton was satisfied with his performance though felt that he could perhaps improved his time given more experience with the car.

“ I am still learning the limits of the Zytek Nissan, especially in qualifying trim. It is a big step up from the car that I drove last year in the ALMS. It will take a few more races before I can exploit all the performance that is available from the package.

That being said, I am very happy with the team, the crew have really pulled out all the stops to get the car to this level of performance. The combination of the Zytek chassis and the Nissan engine on the Dunlop Tires is really solid right now and I feel that we can improve the whole package during this season.

The race is notoriously hard on cars, teams and drivers, so we will have perform to our potential to achieve a good result but this is a good place to start.”

Team Manager Jacob Greaves, “This is a good result for Elton and for the team. It is a just reward for the hard work that the crew has put in over the past few weeks building up the car and getting ready for Sebring. Of course the race will be another matter but we are confident that we can achieve a good result, but we know it will be tough given the quality of the opposition in the FIA WEC.”
